Tracy S. Sewell, CPA, MST
Tracy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Management (Double Major) from Franklin Pierce College, where he graduated with magna cum laude honors, and his Masters in Taxation from Bentley College Graduate School of Business while serving as a member of the United States Navy submarine service. Tracy is a Georgia licensed Certified Public Accountant, member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
For 6+ years Tracy served with the Internal Revenue Service as an Internal Revenue Agent auditing corporations and flow through enterprises for income taxes, payroll taxes and other specialized taxes. Additionally, Tracy served as a state auditor of income tax and sales taxes. These experiences have provided Tracy with a unique insight on IRS and state audit procedures which he employs in his tax controversy practice. With these skills, Tracy successfully assisted one client in eliminating an IRS tax assessment in excess of $3 million.
Tracy has over 5 years of public accounting experience split between a “Big 4” firm and a large international CPA firm. While in public accounting Tracy provided tax research, planning and compliance services to various business enterprises from small corporate start-ups to multi-billion dollar partnerships to consolidated multi-state corporations to multi-state qualified subchapter S subsidiary groups. These business enterprises were engaged in retail, construction, service, distribution, real estate and high technology.
Additionally, Tracy has 3+ years of experience in a large corporate financial services company. By designing, developing and implementing systems, Tracy successfully integrated two multi-billion acquisitions. Tracy’s efforts saved the company over $23 million in one year and over $50 million over a three year period.
